Brief of Micro-Irrigation Fund (MIF)

Micro Irrigation Fund with corpus of Rs. 5000 crore has been created with NABARD to facilitate the States in mobilizing the resources for expanding coverage of Micro Irrigation by taking up special and innovative projects and also for incentivising micro irrigation beyond the provisions available under PDMC to encourage farmers to install micro irrigation systems i.e. top-up subsidy projects. To further strengthen & expand the adoption of Micro Irrigation systems by the farmers in the county for enhancing water use efficiency at farm level, a Budget -announcement has been made during the year 2021-22 to double the initial corpus of Micro Irrigation Fund and augment it by another Rs. 5,000 crores. The proposal to this effect is under process.
